Story
A woman rests on a bed covered in a floral patterned textile, set within a room painted in green and filled with decorative furnishings. The scene suggests a quiet, private moment of leisure indoors. This piece, titled Afternoon Yellow Room, was created in 1910 using oil, and it is held at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, having come into the collection through the James E. Roberts Fund. The artist, Frederick Carl Frieseke, was an American painter associated with Impressionism. Worth noticing is how the pattern of the bedding plays against the plain green walls, giving the composition a sense of layered texture throughout the room.
