The Garden Umbrella

Story

A woman holding a red umbrella sits in a garden, surrounded by weeping willows, flowers, and a small pool. The scene is rendered in yellows, greens, and blues, giving the whole setting a soft, luminous feel. Frederick Carl Frieseke painted this oil work in 1910. Frieseke, an American painter (1874–1939), worked within Impressionism. The piece came to Telfair Museums through the bequest of Elizabeth Millar Bullard.
