Story

A woman wearing a green kimono is shown in profile, lifting a rouge brush toward her face, set against a plain beige backdrop rendered in soft, muted tones. The image is a color woodblock print made in 1920 by Goyō Hashiguchi, a Japanese ukiyo-e artist and painter who also worked as a wood engraver, born in 1880 and died in 1921. The print entered the Toledo Museum of Art as a gift from Hubert D. Bennett.
