Story

A seated woman is shown with her back to the viewer, rendered in simple contour lines against a plain, pale ground. The figure's curved posture is traced with economical strokes that leave much of the paper bare. This piece, Seated Nude, Viewed from Behind, is a crayon transfer lithograph by Henri Matisse (1869–1954), a French artist linked to Fauvism.
