Story

A monkey perches amid dense jungle growth, surrounded by fruit trees and flowering plants rendered in greens, oranges, and reds. The vegetation presses close around the small creature, filling the scene with layered foliage. This oil painting, titled Exotic Landscape, was completed in 1910 by Henri Rousseau, a French painter who lived from 1844 to 1910 and worked within naïve art and primitivism.
