Sketch of Serengeti

Story

Scattered trees punctuate a stretch of tan grassland, with pale blue mountains rising beneath a sky filled with white clouds. The composition captures an open plain under wide, luminous light, rendered with loose, quick strokes that suggest a sense of immediacy. This oil sketch depicts the Serengeti landscape. Jane Peterson (1876–1965), an American painter, created this work, now held at the Eskenazi Museum of Art.

Where it works
