Story

A garden bed fills the composition with red celosia blossoms, clusters of white flowers, and touches of yellow bloom scattered among dense green leaves, with gray rocks tucked between the plants. The painting was made in oil in 1894 by John Leslie Breck, an American painter born in 1860 and died in 1899. The piece came into the Terra Foundation for American Art through the Daniel J. Terra Collection.
