Story

A head seen in profile dissolves into angular, interlocking planes rendered in muted beige and brown. The fragmented geometry breaks the face into shifting facets rather than a single continuous surface, giving the portrait a faceted, puzzle-like structure. Painted in oil, the work is by Juan Gris (1887–1927), a Spanish artist associated with cubism, whose fractured approach to the human form reflects that movement's break from traditional representation.

Where it works

A muted portrait suited to dens and media rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
