Waterside Park Scene

Story

Groups of figures in old-fashioned clothing gather along a shoreline, scattered beneath trees in a public garden while sailboats drift across the water behind them. Earthy browns and soft blues shape the whole composition, giving the park a warm, layered feel. Painted in oil, the work comes from Maurice Brazil Prendergast (1858–1924), an American painter and draftsperson associated with the Ashcan School and Post-impressionism, also known for Autumn.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
