Story
Two figures stand together, dressed in elaborate traditional Japanese clothing with pink, blue, and patterned fabrics, their black hair styled formally, set against a plain gray backdrop. The pair represents Ichikawa Shocho II as Umegawa and Kataoka Gado IV as Chubei. This color woodblock print was made in 1927 by Natori Shunsen (1886–1960), a Japanese artist associated with the Nihonga movement who worked as an illustrator, printmaker, and ukiyo-e artist.
