The Windmill

Story

A windmill rises on a green hillside under a blue sky filled with white clouds, with rocky outcroppings scattered nearby. The composition favors open landscape over architectural detail, letting the structure sit quietly within its natural surroundings. Odilon Redon (1840–1916), a French artist associated with Symbolism, is better known for works like Les Yeux clos, The Birth of Venus, and The Cyclops, though this piece shows his attention to simple outdoor scenery.
