Story
A sloping hillside unfolds with clusters of trees, a winding river, and small figures scattered across the terrain, all bathed in warm yellows, greens, and earthen hues beneath a clouded sky. The scene carries an expressive, almost restless energy. Painted in oil in 1906 by Othon Friesz (1879–1949), a French painter associated with Fauvism and Post-impressionism, the piece entered the Chrysler Museum of Art as a gift from Walter P. Chrysler, Jr.
