Bird of Paradise

Story

A Bird of Paradise flower rises in bright orange and yellow petals, framed by elongated leaves rendered in green and grey tones. The bloom stands against a plain ground, its curved form catching attention above the foliage. The piece is painted in watercolour over faint pencil marks on vellum. Pierre Joseph Redouté, born in 1759 and died in 1840, worked as a botanical illustrator and collector, with ties to Belgian, French, and Southern Netherlands citizenship.

Where it works

A muted floral still life suited to libraries and living rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
