La Jetée de Deauville

Story

A pier along the shore draws the eye, with figures dressed for warm weather strolling nearby, sailboats drifting offshore, and swimmers dotting the water, all painted in blue, yellow, and earthy hues. Raoul Dufy created this oil painting in 1933, working within the French Fauvist movement. The piece came to the Winnipeg Art Gallery as a gift from Mr. and Mrs. John A. MacAulay, Q.C.
