Eiffel Tower

Story

The Eiffel Tower splinters into angular shards of yellow, green, orange, and purple, its iron silhouette broken apart into a rhythm of overlapping geometric planes. The composition pulls the structure away from clear representation, favoring color and fragmentation over solid form. Painted in oil in 1924 by Robert Delaunay, a French painter associated with Orphism and simultanism, the work entered the Dallas Museum of Art as a gift from the Meadows Foundation, Incorporated.
