Story
A dense arrangement of black lines fills the sheet, where interlocking geometric shapes meet curving organic forms against a pale cream ground, all held within a rectangular border. This is a woodcut made in 1922, part of the portfolio Kleinen Welten by Wassily Kandinsky. The Russian-born artist, who lived 1866–1944, worked within Expressionism and was connected to the Bauhaus, exploring abstraction through print.
