Story
A brick house with a chimney sits tucked among garden trees whose leaves turn yellow, orange, and green in the autumn light. The structure appears sheltered and quiet, framed by the surrounding foliage. This oil painting was completed in 1920. The artist, Willard LeRoy Metcalf (1858–1925), was an American painter associated with Impressionism, and the piece is held at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art.
