Donald Darst is an American oil painter celebrated for his atmospheric landscapes, dramatic still lifes, and expressive figurative works. A nationally award-winning artist, Darst is known for his masterful use of light and shadow, often drawing inspiration from the tonal qualities of the Hudson River School and the rich realism of the Dutch Masters. His landscapes convey a quiet sense of place, while his chiaroscuro still lifes—frequently featuring Native American and Early American artifacts—highlight texture, form, and history with remarkable depth.
