Handling and hanging

• Handle framed works by the frame edges, never by the hanging wire or the glazing.
• Hang on two points where possible for larger works, using hardware rated for the piece's weight.
• Unframed prints should be handled at the margins with clean, dry hands — or cotton gloves for larger sheets.

Placement and environment

• Keep works out of direct sunlight; even archival pigments prefer indirect light.
• Avoid high-humidity locations (bathrooms, unventilated kitchens) and exterior walls prone to condensation.
• Aim for a stable environment — repeated swings in temperature and humidity age paper and canvas faster than either extreme alone.

Cleaning

• Dust frames and glazing with a dry, soft microfiber cloth. Never spray cleaner directly on the glazing — apply it to the cloth first, and keep it away from the frame finish.
• Canvas surfaces should only be dusted lightly with a soft, dry brush — never wiped with liquid.
