Rocky Mountains

Story

Snow-capped peaks rise above a forested shoreline where deer stand near a misty lake, the scene rendered in golden and blue tones. The composition pairs warm light with cool water and distant stone. Albert Bierstadt (1830–1902), a German-American artist, painted this mountain landscape as part of the Hudson River school, a movement centered on grand depictions of nature. He also worked as an architectural drafter and photographer, and created North Dome, Yosemite Valley.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
