Story
A fair-haired young man gazes outward, dressed in a red and green garment, clasping a small spiky plant in one hand as a shadowed backdrop surrounds him. The piece was made in oil on vellum in 1493. It stands as an early effort by Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528), a German artist tied to the German Renaissance, now held at the Louvre Museum.
