Story

A man with a flowing beard and curling hair gazes outward, dressed in a brown cloak over a white shirt trimmed in black, gloves held loosely in his hand. Behind him, a dark setting opens to a small view of distant hills through a window. The piece was painted in oil on panel in 1498 by Albrecht Dürer, a German Renaissance figure born in 1471 and died in 1528.
