Story

Rings of small, mosaic-like squares spiral outward from a glowing red core, moving through orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple before settling into a soft pink field at the edges. The piece is painted in acrylic, dated 1970. Alma Thomas (1891–1978), an American artist and art educator, worked within the Color Field and Washington Color School tradition, also tied to abstract expressionism.
