Story
Large maple leaves spread across the frame, their broad shapes set against the finer, lacy texture of fern fronds crowding in from the forest floor. The dense arrangement fills the composition edge to edge, rendered in black and white. This photograph, titled In Glacier National Park, was made in 1942. Ansel Adams (1902–1984), an American photographer who also worked as an environmentalist and mountaineer, captured this scene, and he is known for Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico.
Where it works
Suited to libraries and dens, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
