Story

Interlocking blocks of red, blue, green, yellow, pink, and black fill the canvas, mingling a tube-like shape with rounded disks in a tightly arranged pattern of pure geometry. The piece is an oil painting completed in 1914. It belongs to Expressionism, the movement associated with its creator, August Macke, a German artist of the Kingdom of Prussia who lived from 1887 to 1914 and whose notable work Gartentor is also recorded.
