Story

A lone man stands outside the Blossom Restaurant storefront at 103 Bowery, with menu boards posted near the entrance and a barber pole rising beside him on the sidewalk. The image is a gelatin silver print on matte, double weight paper. It comes from the New York Public Library collection. Berenice Abbott (1898–1991), an American photographer associated with straight photography, made this view of a Manhattan street scene.
