After Lunch

Story

A woman rests near a window framed by blossoming greenery, dressed in a violet gown and a hat of woven straw. The brushwork is quick and broken, mixing soft greens and lavender tones with warm skin shades to suggest filtered daylight. The piece is titled After Lunch, by Berthe Morisot (1841–1895), a French painter associated with Impressionism, also known for The Cradle.

Where it works

Cool-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
