Bagels

Story

Five sesame seed bagels sit grouped together on a white surface, painted in warm browns, tans, and cream tones. The surfaces catch light unevenly, giving each bagel its own shading and highlight. Charles Bell, an American artist and painter, created this piece as part of the photorealism movement, which emphasized precise, detailed rendering of everyday objects. The composition stays simple, letting the bagels and their arrangement carry the entire image.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to kitchens and dining rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
