Captive Messenger #2

Story

A cluster of vintage spray paint cans surrounds a black sphere, set against a comic-style starburst rendered in blue, yellow, and white. The arrangement is painted with sharp, photorealistic precision, giving each can a crisp, almost tactile surface. Charles Bell, an American painter who lived from 1935 to 1995, created this piece as part of the photorealism movement, which emphasized exacting, photograph-like detail in painted form.

Where it works

Suited to kids' rooms and kitchens, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
