Story

Angular factory forms dominate the scene, with staircases, railings, and cylindrical tanks arranged in cream, black, and blue tones. The structures appear stacked and interlocking, suggesting a sense of industrial geometry rather than a single clear building. This piece, titled Western Industrial, was made with tempera on glass in 1954 by Charles Sheeler, an American artist associated with Precisionism, also known for Suspended Power. It belongs to the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
