Story
A rugged coastal headland rises above blue water, its pale cliffs catching the light beneath a gray sky, the rocky point stretching toward the sea. This oil painting was made in 1901 by Childe Hassam, an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism, known also for Laurel in the Ledges. The piece entered its collection through a museum purchase supported by a gallery fund.
