Story
Glistening pavement stretches through a Boston street slick with rain, where horse-drawn carriages move past pedestrians holding umbrellas beneath brick facades and a gray, clouded sky. The scene is rendered in oil by Childe Hassam (1859–1935), an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism. The painting entered the Toledo Museum of Art through funds bequeathed in memory of Maurice A. Scott.
