Story
A glistening city street unfolds at night, where a horse-drawn carriage moves past pedestrians under glowing gas lamps, the whole scene washed in tones of blue and purple that suggest falling rain. Childe Hassam painted this scene in oil in 1890. He was an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism. The piece came to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as a gift from Mrs. Langdon Dearborn.
