Story

Rows of American flags cascade down the fronts of tall city buildings, their red, white, and blue vivid against a sky scattered with white clouds. The street below seems framed entirely by draped fabric and stone facades. This scene appears in The Fourth of July, 1916, a work by Childe Hassam (1859–1935), an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
