Story
A cluster of fishing boats sits grounded on a sandy shore, with high chalk cliffs rising behind them under a soft, pale sky rendered in subdued earth tones and blues. The scene is painted in oil, completed in 1883. The artist, Claude Monet (1840–1926), was French and worked within Impressionism, a movement also reflected in his painting Impression, Sunrise.
