Story

Sailboats drift along a river beneath an arched bridge, with industrial buildings standing nearby under a heavy, clouded sky. The scene is painted in soft browns, grays, and blue tones that suggest a dim, overcast light. This oil painting was created in 1876 by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, known also for Impression, Sunrise among his other works.
