Story
A small dog with long, pale fur, dark eyes, and a dark nose fills the frame, set against a deep, shadowy background. The animal appears to be a Yorkshire Terrier, shown here as a detail from a larger portrait of Eugenie Graff, Madame Paul. The piece is an oil painting made in 1881 by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, now held at the Fogg Museum.
