Story

Two cone-shaped stacks rise from a frost-dusted field, a river and hazy terrain stretching behind them under a palette of warm ochres mixed with cool blues and soft earthy tones. The scene is rendered in oil, painted in 1889. Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, also created Haystacks, a related subject explored in this period of his work.
