Story
A pond surface fills the view, scattered with water lilies and aquatic plants resting among reflections. Greens, blues, purples, and touches of pink blend across the water, suggesting light and movement rather than sharp detail. This oil on canvas was created in 1916 by Claude Monet, a French painter (1840–1926) associated with Impressionism, also known for Haystacks, now held at the McNay Art Museum.
