Story
Pink and cream cliffs rise above a stretch of blue sea, the rock catching warm light while the sky above fades to pale tones. Painted in oil in 1897, the composition sets the sunlit cliffside against open water and quiet air. The piece belongs to Claude Monet, a French painter associated with Impressionism, whose body of work also includes Haystacks.
