Poplars on the Banks of the Epte

Story

A line of slender poplar trees rises along a riverbank, their reflections rippling in the water below. Soft washes of yellow, purple, and green blend together under a hazy, atmospheric light, giving the scene a dreamlike softness. The piece was painted in oil in 1891 by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French artist associated with Impressionism, who also created the notable work Impression, Sunrise.
