Story
A small sailboat glides along a river, slipping under the wide span of a blue-grey railway bridge, while thick greenery lines the banks and soft clouds drift overhead. The scene is rendered in oil and carries the title Railroad Bridge, Argenteuil, created in 1874, and the piece is held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Claude Monet, who lived from 1840 to 1926 and worked as a French painter, is associated with the Impressionism movement. Looking closely, the pale tones of the sky and water blend with the bridge's structure, letting the solitary boat stand out as the quiet focus of the composition.
