Regatta at Argenteuil

Story

Sailboats with pale sails drift across blue water, bordered by green banks and low brown buildings beneath a gray sky. The riverside scene feels calm, framed by the natural shoreline and quiet structures nearby. Painted in oil in 1872, the work reflects Claude Monet's association with Impressionism, a French movement he helped define. Monet, who lived from 1840 to 1926, also created Impression, Sunrise, another notable piece from his career as a painter.
