Story
The facade of Rouen Cathedral rises in soft blues, whites, and earthy tones, bathed in the gentle light of morning. Shadows and brightness ripple across the stonework, giving the structure a soft, almost dissolving quality. This oil painting was created in 1894 by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism. He is also known for his notable work Impression, Sunrise. The piece is held at the Musée d'Orsay.
