Story

A pair of slender, leafless trees rises along a quiet riverbank, their forms mirrored in still water that also holds the reflections of nearby plants and a house glimpsed under a soft, muted sky. This oil painting dates from 1887. It was made by French painter Claude Monet (1840–1926), a figure associated with Impressionism, whose notable works include Haystacks.
