Story

A rugged coastline rises above open water, where sailboats drift beneath a sky touched with light. Greens, browns, blues, and yellows blend across the rocky cliffside and the sea beyond. This oil painting was made in 1882 by Claude Monet, a French painter and graphic artist associated with Impressionism, whose life spanned 1840 to 1926 and whose works include Haystacks.
