Story
A steam locomotive sits beneath the arched glass roof of a busy train station, its smoke mingling with light in shades of blue, purple, and golden brown as travelers move along the platform. This oil painting, titled The Gare St. Lazare, was completed in 1877 and depicts the Gare Saint-Lazare. Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, created the work, now held at the Musée d'Orsay.
