Story

A grand hotel rises along a coastal walkway, its flags lifted on the breeze beneath a sky filled with drifting white clouds over blue. Figures seem to stroll near the shore as the building overlooks the seaside promenade. The scene is rendered in oil on canvas, painted in 1870 by Claude Monet, a French artist associated with Impressionism, whose works also include Impression, Sunrise.
