Story

A small cottage sits atop a grassy cliff, gazing down on a wide stretch of sand where tiny figures stroll and sailboats drift under a soft, misty sky. The low tide leaves the beach open and quiet, framed by the rise of the coastline. This is an oil painting completed in 1881 by Claude Monet, a French artist associated with Impressionism, whose other notable work includes Haystacks.
