Story

A forest path cuts between tall trunks, the grassy road widening as it climbs toward a bright patch of distant sky, rendered in deep greens and earthy browns. The scene unfolds in an oil painting completed in 1865. Claude Monet (1840–1926) was a French painter associated with Impressionism, also known for Impression, Sunrise, and this canvas is held at the Musée d'Orsay.
